Pre-martial sex

1. Introduction

Do you had premartial sex? When was your first time? Should people have pre-martial sex? What do you think? Most people's first sex is when they are teenagers. It is a terrible thing. If they have sex early, it might affect their future. When people are teenagers, they are interested in sex. They have sex just because of curiosity. This problem will be with them forever. In "Parents Urged to Go Beyond 'Big Talk' About Sex" the author said, "The surveys looked at children's attitudes toward their parents over a one-year period and asked about how many of 22 sexual topics were discussed." (Stern, 2008, p.1). Adults also have this problem. When people have pre-martial sex, they cannot take responsibility for their lives. For girls it is a really bad thing. When the girl is with her boyfriend and has sex and they break up, the girl might have a new boyfriend, and he might care about whether his girlfriend had sex before. As a result, early indication about sex is bad for their body and mind.

2. Purpose

Our group, Erika, Jundong, Mondouh, and I, wanted to know how people feel about having pre-martial sex. I wanted to know what caused them to have sex. Also, I wanted to know when they first had sex, did they have a baby. We were going to ask only Americans.

3. Hypotheses

I had three hypotheses about having pre-martial sex. First, most males would say they had sex earlier than females. Next, people would say that when they have a child, they will control this. Third, many people would say if they have sadness and pregnancy, they will have a miscarriage.

4.Methods and Procedures

Each member in our group was to ask ten people who are different genders and ages in Carbondale to get a different opinion. We asked mostly SIUC students. We got 39 responses, 19 males and 20 females. We wanted to know how they feel about having pre-martial sex. Those questions were yes or no and short answer. It was easy for them to answer the questions.

6. Results

Actually, women have sex earlier than men. Fifteen out of nineteen males (78%) have had pre-martial sex, and twelve out of twenty females (60%) had pre-martial sex. Eight out of nineteen, 42%, of males, and five out of twenty, 25%, of females had pre-martial sex before marriage is consideredimmoral or unethical. Twelve out of twenty females (60%) do not think that having sex before marriage is considered immoral or unethical. Seven out of nineteen (36%) males, and eight out of twenty (40%) females' friends had the most influence on their opinion about having sex before getting married. Nine out of nineteen, 47%, males disagreed with religions that ban sex before marriage. Nine out of nineteen females (47%) agree with religions that ban sex beforemarriage. Thirteen out of twenty females (65%) think premarital sex contradicts chastity. Eleven out of ninteen males (57%) do not think premarital sex contradicts chastity.

7. Conclusion and Discussion

I believed that generally men have sex earlier than women. It is not true, because our survey showed that women's age number is earlier than men's. I was surprised that women have sex at age 13. It is too early. I thought most men are interested in sex earlier than women. Also, I was surprised that if people have children they will control them in order to prevent them from having sex before marriage, but they do this at younger age. The survey showed 51% of people said if a couple has a baby before they get marriage, they should retain the baby without getting married.

Having sex early is not resnonsible behavior for life. Based on the results, people don't agree that having sex before marriage is a problem. If I do this survey next time, I will ask older people. I want to know how they feel, and how they think about having pre-martial sex. Some of our survey's results couldn't be used because some respondents did not have sex before. So, next time I would like to ask just those who have had sex.
